Board Spotlight: Reggie Thomas, Google

Google has been a dedicated member of the West Side Community Fund's Board since its founding in 2018.

Reggie Thomas, Google's Head of Government Affairs for New York, currently represents the company on the Board, bringing a background in community investment to support WSCF's hyperlocal initiatives.

What draws you to the West Side Community Fund and its mission, and how does your background align with the Fund?

I’m personally driven by the chance to support the neighborhoods that so many of us call home, which makes the Fund’s mission feel very close to my heart. Our workforce of 14,000+ New Yorkers loves the West Side, and we are deeply committed to seeing our local community thrive and succeed. My background in community investment allows me to channel that collective energy into meaningful, hyperlocal support.

In your opinion, what is the most important work WSCF does?

The most important work the Fund does is getting resources directly into the hands of grassroots leaders who understand the West Side’s immediate needs best. Whether it’s food security or youth development, these microgrants provide the essential foundation for a more resilient and inclusive neighborhood. Seeing the direct impact of these local initiatives is incredibly inspiring and vital for our city’s future.

What are you most looking forward to in your role on the board?

I am most looking forward to collaborating with the board and partners like Hudson Guild to strategically champion the West Side’s unique spirit. It’s an honor to represent our 14,000+ NYC Googlers as we work together to ensure our neighbors have the opportunities they deserve. I can’t wait to meet the grantees in person and support the transformative work they do every day.
